Japan Scholarships for Tanzania students

Monbukagakusho (The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Government of Japan) offers 3 types of scholarships to study at Japanese schools commencing in the 2013 Japanese academic year (starting in April and/or September/October). Please click below for application guidelines and application forms.

    1. Research Students
    (1) 2 Years (including 6 months of Japanese language training), extendable with permission from MEXT
    (2) Applicant must have been born on or after 2 April 1978
    (3) Applicant must have graduated from undergraduate studies
2. Undergraduate Students
    (1) 5 Years (including 1 year of Japanese language training) or 4 Years (without Japanese language training), 7 Years for medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or 6 Years for pharmacy (including 1 year of Japanese language training)
    (2) Applicant must have been born between 2 April 1991 and 1 April 1996
    (3) Applicant must have graduated from A Level Secondary School by March 2013
(1) 3 Years (including 1 year of Japanese language training)
(2) Applicant must have been born between 2 April 1991 and 1 April 1996
(3) Applicant must have graduated from A Level Secondary School by March 2013

The Embassy of Japan in Tanzania is responsible for coordinating this government sponsored programme in Tanzania.

Submission Deadline (for all types): June 15, 2012

Applications should be mailed to PO Box 2577, Dar es Salaam, or handed in at the security gate at the Embassy of Japan, Plot 1018, Ali Hassan Mwinyi Road.

All application documents must arrive by the deadline date.

Please read the requirements carefully as only applications which include all the required forms, certificates, documents and photographs can be considered.

Our Embassy will inform successful applicants that their application has passed the first screening as well as time and date for a short interview.
Our Embassy will not contact unsuccessful applicants regarding their failure, nor will it answer questions concerning the reason of the results.


All successful applicants are required to present their original birth and academic certificates as well as their passport at the time of their interviews.
