Prior to your registration and application you must decide on how to finance your doctoral study and research at ZEF. We prefer that the participants in the program concentrate completely on their doctoral study and not on how to earn money. Therefore, the applicants need sufficient financial resources for the entire program period of three years. The University of Patras grants scholarships for post-graduate studies at U.S.A. Universities to its graduands as well as its graduates of the following Faculties: School of Natural Sciences, School of Engineering, School of Health Sciences, the Department of Economics and the Department of Business Administration.

Priority is given to candidates who come from the Prefecture of Achaia.

The Scholarships are named "Andreas Mentzelopoulos Scholarships for the University of Patras". The Scholarships grantor is Mrs Corine Mentzelopoulos.

In order for a scholarship to be granted, the candidate’s academic record is taken into account as well as his/her family’s financial standing.

The scholarships provided for in specific regulations, are announced by the University annually (the first week of October every year), based on the financial potentialities, and are publicized in the Press as well as the University’s site.

The current announcement for the scholarships of the next academic year 2009-2010 is provided in Greek, describing the necessary application procedure.

The granted scholarships are only for full-time studies. Applications which concern distant learning or part-time attendance are not accepted.

Scholarships can also be granted to post-graduate students enrolled in a post-graduate Master’s degree programme and wish to continue their studies in order to obtain a Doctoral Degree (PhD).

The scholarships are initially for two years.

The University of Patras participates in the financial budget of the scholarships by 25%. This amount does not exceed the corresponding IKY scholarships amount, as defined in the University’s Internal Regulations.

Scholarships of the Government of the Slovak Republic

The provision of development aid of the Slovak Republic (SR) in the area of education takes the form of the award of scholarships of the Government of the SR that are consistent with the conditions approved by the Government Resolution No.1096/2006 of 20 December 2006 on the evaluation of the Government Resolution No. 1053/2003, of 13 November 2003, on the award of scholarships of the SR Government and the proposal for the course of action in providing the development aid by the SR to the developing countries and to Slovaks living abroad for the years 2007 - 2010.

The official range of scholarship positions available is annually notified through the diplomatic offices of the SR abroad.

Under the development aid for the developing countries, the official offer is sent to the ministry of foreign affairs of the relevant country in accordance with the approved breakdown of countries and scholarship places in particular academic years.

Under the aid to Slovaks living abroad, the offer is sent to the official compatriot representatives according to the approved breakdown of countries and scholarship positions in relevant academic years.

Deadlines for year 2009
30-th May 2009 - deadline for delivering the personal materials of the candidates to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Hlboká cesta 2, 833 36 Bratislava.
31-st August 2009 - selection commission of the Ministry of Education of the SR will decide on granting a scholarship of the Slovak Government

Roehampton University Scholarship

The University has a number of scholarships available for international students on full-time, taught undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Scholarships are awarded on academic merit and applications will only be considered after an offer of a place of study at Roehampton University has been made.

Spring 2010 entry

The University is pleased to offer a limited number of Spring Entry Scholarships to the value of £1,000 offered as a fee discount to international students for entry in January 2010.

Spring Entry Scholarships are open to any international applicant applying to and firmly accepting an offer from the University for any undergraduate or postgraduate taught programme with a spring entry point irrespective of nationality or country of domicile.

Deadline for Spring Entry Scholarship applications: Monday 16 November 2009

Decisions will be made by no later than Friday 19 December 2009

Saxion University of Applied Sciences is offering two kinds of scholarship for talented (non-European) bachelor students.

1. Saxion Talent Scholarship (STS)

For talented students a partial scholarship is available that will give a substantial reduction on the tuition fee.

Requirements:

  • You must have admission to one of Saxion’s International Bachelor programmes as a new student in the bachelor programme,
  • You must be a student with a nationality from outside the EU/EEA,
  • Scholarships are only awarded for programmes of at least 6-month duration
  • Scholarships are awarded for one academic year.

How to apply for the scholarship:

The application for your Bachelor course, will also count as application for the Saxion Talent Scholarship. If you meet the entry requirements, the scholarship will automatically be granted to you on a first come, first served basis. You don’t have to fill in another application form for just the scholarship. The total number of available scholarships is limited.

2. Saxion Top Talent Scholarship (STTS)

This scholarship is for excellent and very talented (non-European) students and covers the tuition fee, with exception of the governmental registration fee which is approximately € 1,600.- (for 2009/2010).

Requirements:

  • You must have outstanding study results, with an average mark of 75% or higher,
  • You must have an IELTS score of 6.5 or higher,
  • You must be in or starting the admission procedure to one of Saxion’s International Bachelor Programmes as a new student in the bachelor programme,
  • You must be a student with a nationality from outside the EU/EEA,
  • Scholarships are only awarded for programmes of at least 6-month duration,
  • Scholarships are awarded for one academic year.

Top Turkey Scholarship Contest

Turkey sandwiches, turkey soup, reheated turkey on a plate, still more turkey sandwiches...the annual challenge arises after every Thanksgiving dinner: how do you liven up those holiday leftovers? Well, if you have an original and imaginative answer to that, we have some good news—the idea could earn you a scholarship to The Culinary Institute of America!

Get your creative juices flowing and enter the CIA's Top Turkey Recipe Contest, in which you can compete for up to $15,000 in scholarships, including our People's Choice Award on YouTube.

Send Us Your Top Turkey Idea
There are two ways to submit entries:

  • Option 1 Provide a written recipe, 300-word personal statement discussing your creation, three photos of your finished product, and the contest entry form.
  • Option 2: People's Choice Award Submit all materials from Option 1, along with a 3- to 5-minute DVD segment in which you talk about your creation and demonstrate its preparation. Only DVDs will be accepted, in the following formats: wmv, avi, mov, or mpg. The DVD must be no more than 100 MB in file size. Any video content that the CIA deems inappropriate will be disqualified from the People's Choice Award, but the recipe may still be considered for the other scholarships.

All entries must be received by November 2, 2009.
Other key dates:

  • Finalists will be posted on YouTube.com for voting on November 23
  • Voting ends on December 4
  • Winners will be announced on December 14

Determine Your Eligibility
To be eligible for participation in the Top Turkey Recipe Contest, you must graduate high school by June 30, 2010 and enroll at the CIA no later than December 2010. The contest is only available to freshmen entering the CIA in 2010; current students are not eligible.

Entries will be reviewed and selected by CIA faculty and staff. The selection committee will review recipes, personal statements, and photos, judging each entry on difficulty and quality of the recipe, as well as quality and showmanship of the final product.

The selection committee will also choose the finalists from the DVDs submitted for the People's Choice Award entries to be posted on YouTube. The CIA may use your first name, city, and state on YouTube for the purpose of this contest. There will be a two-week voting period during which the video with the highest ranking on YouTube will be declared the People's Choice Award winner. In the event there is a tie in the rankings, the video with the highest ranking and views will be chosen.

Please note, since we are not affiliated with YouTube and it is a third party source, the CIA reserves the right to end the contest prior to the posted end date if there is a technical difficulty or evidence of foul play.

All submissions become the property of The Culinary Institute of America and may be used by the college for promotional purposes.

Scholarship Winners!

Read about the scholarship winners from 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008.

Due to the generosity of an anonymous donor, The Vegetarian Resource Group each year will award $10,000 in college scholarship money to graduating U.S. high school students who have promoted vegetarianism in their schools and/or communities. Vegetarians do not eat meat, fish, or fowl. Two awards of $5,000 each will be given. Entries may only be sent by students graduating from high school in spring 2010. Deadline is February 20, 2010. We will accept applications postmarked on or before February 20, 2010. Early submission is encouraged.

Applicants will be judged on having shown compassion, courage, and a strong commitment to promoting a peaceful world through a vegetarian diet/lifestyle. Payment will be made to the student's college (U.S. based only). Winners of the scholarships give permission to release their names to the media. Applications and essays become property of The Vegetarian Resource Group. We may ask finalists for more information. Scholarship winners are contacted by telephone.
